Poptata
branding / web design
BACKGROUND
Poptata story began in May 2015. From a temporary gazebo in Portobello Road market, Marco and Luca wanted to share their passion for fries with Londoners. The chip is an institution so with a modern style, Poptata presented a new fresh snack time alternative, taking their wares to London markets and festivals. Now Poptata serves up the most delicious chips and cheesy fries in London with permanent locations at Boxpark Croydon, Boxpark Shoreditch and Portobello Road.

THE PROBLEM
Like a lot of start-up businesses, especially street food brands, Poptata had a homemade website, bags designed by the supplier, outdated menu boards etc. This can lead to brand inconsistency and a confusing overall message for customers.

The website was created in-house at the beginning of their venture, and as such the design of this had no connection with their new logo
THE BRIEF
We were tasked with bringing a consistent message across all of Poptata’s branded materials including the website and interiors. Poptata wanted to keep their existing logo which was fresh, bright and colourful with a ‘pop-art’ feel. They wanted to use this as a base to create a recognisable brand that reflects their fun personality as this was lacking and nothing matched.

THE SOLUTION
We created a striking new brand with a hint of pop-art and 80’s kitsch. Using bold stripes and dots to complement imagery and add interest. The colour palette is simple and bold using only Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. This helps create a recognisable brand and with consistency across all materials with different print processes.

We designed a new responsive scrolling website to make it easier for customers “on the go”.The website was created in their current platform to make it easy for Poptata to make small updates and changes in-house.
